Lincoln Park Zoo

We took advantage of the beautiful Chicago weather today and headed out to the Lincoln Park Zoo. We had a great day, watching the animals, enjoying the weather and even had a picnic lunch out on the same flower field where we took our after wedding pictures. Talia loves the zoo, and today, she especially loved the penguins, which also happen to be Kenny's favorite animal.
Giana really liked the fish and her head would turn from side to side following them. Too funny.
It was a wonderful family fun filled day. I look forward to many more this summer.

Giana is 5 months

Giana is getting more fun everyday! She is really starting to fall into a "schedule" now, pretty much eating breakfast, lunch and dinner with a few "snacks" (aka nursing sessions) thrown in there. She is also sleeping more soundly and even gave us 11 hours 2 nights in a row...I hope that we are on to something. I can't tell you what a difference the sleep has made to me (not that I slept for 11 hours--I wish!) She is so happy to eat and loves to watch me make her cereal. She seems to like oatmeal better than rice cereal. We have tried some orange veggies, like carrots and squash, both which she liked. We also tried peas, and she did not like them so much, but happily ate them once I mixed it into her oatmeal. She also moves all over now--well, in a small area, by pushing her feet against the floor and lifting her butt. If she is playing with her play gym and swatting at the objects hanging above her, it won't take her long to move to where she wants to be. No more leaving her unattended on the couch or changing table! She is saying more sounds and seems to be playing with her voice more. Very fun. Besides constantly having her hands and her thumb (!) in her mouth constantly, she has also found her feet. She hasn't brought them to her mouth yet, but I am sure that is next. I love that! No doctor appointment this month, so no shots! Hooray!

Happy Father's Day!

I bought these super cute t-shirts for the girls to honor Kenny for Father's day--the best daddy out there! Talia's says "Daddy's Girl" and Gigi's says "Daddy's Little Girl". (super cute, right?)
Talia painted a wooden heart for Kenny with lots of pretty colors, and surprisingly, it stayed that way. Usually when T paints something, she paints the same spot over and over until it is a lovely shade of brown. She must be getting bigger.
We spent the morning at the splash park and just spent the rest of the day cooking a great dinner and enjoying being a family. Fun!

Swinging in the Summer

We did have some great weather this week (in between episodes of rain) and Talia and I got out in the backyard to play. We noticed a nest in one of our little trees that now Talia needs to check in on every few minutes. I am pretty sure that there are eggs in there as a black bird keeps flying to it, and continues to chirp and squawk at us when we are in the backyard.

Talia still loves to swing and is learning to "pump" her legs too...although will always prefer some big underdogs from me or Kenny! I just wanted to share some great happy pics of what a kid should look like in summer!

Happy Birthday to me

I turned 32 today and the best present this year was celebrating it with my 2 favorite girls...and I would love for school to just be over! After a crazy and exhausting day at school (and mind you, I only work a half day!), I was so happy to get my girls, go to a playgroup with friends, and just relax at home. Kenny picked up my favorite Carvel ice cream cake and Talia and Kenny happily sang Happy Birthday to me.
There had to be 2 candles on the cake...one for me to blow out and one for Talia to blow out. Here's to another birthday!
